Vision Systems
A typical vision system is made up of camera(s), lighting, lenses, cables and software. It may also include filters depending on the lighting used. A vision system can perform a wide variety of tasks. It can verify part quality, part orientation, measure part dimensions, verify part presence, verify part color, read a label, or read & verify bar coding. It can also be used to guide robots, orient parts or aid in assembling parts.
Vision systems are generally used quality control where they can be used to record history of a product, identify trends or simply perform a pass/fail function. A vision system is much more reliable, accurate and repeatable than using sensors, mechanical means, or manual inspection methods.
The Vision system removes the Human error element from your process and elimiates the operator to operator variation which is intrinsic in manual inspection processes. A vision system does not exhibit the characteristics of the human brain which tends to become less reliable and less repeatable at detecting defects over longer periods of time. A Vision system can be practically 100% accurate when integrated, configured and programmed properly. A vison system has the capability of detecting much smaller defects than the human eye.
Due to the capability of Vision systems it can significantly increase the run rate of your process over manual inspection thereby allowing the customer to inspect 100% of product without having to sacrifice throughput.
