RFID Tracking

What is RFID ?

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a technology that enables someone to uniquely identify any item from a distance, regardless of orientation. Rfid has the capability of reading through boxes, packaging and even walls therefore you can identify a part inside a sealed unit as opposed to a barcode where you need a direct line of vision.

RFID tags can be small and are available in different materials such as solid plastic/PVC/ etc, which means they can be resistant to water, chemicals, hard knocks whereas bar code labels may be destroyed by these.

  • Most tags can be read through humans, water, mud so they can be used in dirty or industrious environments.
  • RFID tags, when configured, can actually store numbers, text, dates, or even pictures or data the user may write into it, which will be displayed when next the tag is scanned.
  • RFID active tags actually transmit a signal detected by readers, so you can actually track movements of your assets through an office, building or warehouse.
  • Tags can be read from distances ranging from a few centimeters to over 50 metres away, depending on your choice of RFID technology.
  • RFID transmission has built in security protocols which prevent others from reading your tags without your authorization and admittance.
  • Tags can be read at high speeds (over 320kph) and can be used for vehicle tracking, process automation, vehicle/human access control etc.

RFID is a technology that can be used in many different applications depending on the specific customer’s requirements.

AMCS have vast experience in RFID in varous different sectors and we have implented this expertise into the manufacturing industry to track products, people and equipment through out the facility so as the customer can identify the location of an item at any stage. Due to the vast nature of our RFID buisness we are not tied down to any particular type of RFID technology and having experience with many different RFID technology frequencies we feel we are in an excellent position to determine the correct technology for the customers application.
